Please be strong for me, baby.
My name is Nazirah and I once slept like a homeless at Union Station early in the morning. That darling, was something.

Last two weeks, I did an interview with indie-rock chick Thao Nguyen of Thao with The Get Down Stay Down. And the interview piece written for FILTER-magazine’s website is up today. So please do check it out, people. Give it a read. Let me know what you think. :)

Yuna - Decorate
So you decided to see me out of the blue,
should I let you come over?
I think you’re doing fine…
That girl in your arms does she know where you come from?
Almost made me move out of town
You don’t want me to be around
I stayed anyway, just in case…
Finding reasons to hate you more than before
Like how you said, you would call
But never at all…
Got rid off your number that I know by heart
You left your things at my place
As if i have all the space, cause you know I don’t mind.
Just come back when you think it’s time.
I’m all black and white inside
Monotonous from left to right
I decorate my house with things you love
Just in case, you show up
In case you show up.

Apa khabar Malaysia sekarang? Lama tak dengar berita.

These pictures were taken sometime in April, on the day Yuna and Wawa were about to head off to LAX and leave LA for Malaysia. I’ve made a vow not to hangout with Malaysians on a regular basis, but Yuna and Wawa is a different case. And yet I don’t exactly hangout with Yuna and her manager Wawa on a regular basis. To tell you the truth, we only hangout twice. First when I visited them for the first time after work and the next time was to bid farewell. We had breakfast at Cafe 101 on Franklin with another Malaysian friend of Wawa, Fahmi, before they were sent off to LAX.
Yuna is a different case because she is YUNA. If you have no slightest idea about her (most probably because you’re not Malaysian), Yuna needs no introduction. She’s already a starlet in Malaysia, an award-winning singer-songwriter who was recently signed to LA’s Indie Pop label. Her two months stay in LA was for the purpose of recording her debut full-length album.
I know Yuna back at home when I did an interview with her for a campus newspaper and I am also a friend to her bandmates; guitarist and manager, Paan and bassist, Efry. We share some mutual friends and most of all, I’ve always been a supporter of her. This girl is so talented and I’m so proud of her achievement I’m wishing she’d make it big in the States and the world soon, and hopefully will write another article on her soon (given green light from both Yuna and Wawa!).

From the Sage Francis show that Naz took me to last week at the Music Box. Seeing Sage Francis with a live band AND guest appearance by Yann Tiersen? Awesome. For free via the Anti records list? Even better. Being able to walk from the venue to my house? Amazing. I’m going to miss that lady when she returns to Malaysia next month. :(
igotlostinthecity: Frances darling, I’m going to miss you a LOT more! :((((
